Walking The Western Front 2025

6th October - 10th October 2025 - £739

Well again, after the phenomenal demand and amazing success of our 2017, 2018, 2019,2022 & 2023 walking tours across Dunkirk, the Somme and Ypres Salient, we have once again teamed up with Mercian Nordic Walking (www.merciannordicwalking.co.uk) for a battlefield tour that is again completely different from the last! Bringing learning, respect, remembrance, fitness and history together for an amazing five days walking across the battlefields of Flanders and the Somme, you will be taking in some of the must see sites that you will never forget. For those who have been on any of our walking tours the walks and some of the stops have been changed so even for you this tour is different and that includes anyone on our 2023 tour!
There are also options for non walkers so if your partners, friends or family prefer to leave the walking to you, you will also be able to visit the same sites, and a few more via our motorized transport!

This tour will be aimed at a full capacity of 20 only and no more with travel via a 32 seater mini coach.

Collection points will start in the Bromsgrove area at 05:00am (you will be notified of the collection point in Bromsgrove nearer to the time of departure) We will then have various pick ups along the M40, M25 and M20 motorway service stations according to the areas bookings are taken. Arrival in Dover will be around 09:00am followed by our ferry crossing around 10:00am.

Day One - So after a relaxed trip across the channel we will be heading straight into Poperinghe where a visit to Talbot house and another stop will start our trip. For those who visited these stops in 2023 two other stops will be included so the trip starts different for you to! We will then head to Ypres and our hotel located centrally to the main square but don't get to comfortable! In the evening we will be having a walk around the ramparts and slightly further out (so this is different to the walk in 2023) to start setting the mood and get those legs stretched ready for tomorrow!

Day Two - Walking Day! The walks for day 2 are not yet set in stone but will be different to any we have previously walked. There will be two walks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon averaging between 5 and 8 miles per walk. You can choose to walk either or both as we will have a mini coach for those family members or walkers who wish to sit either or both walks out, but those who don't walk will still get to visit the sites the walkers do, plus a few more. Return time to the hotel will be around 18:00 and we will then take part in the haunting and unforgettable Menin Gate ceremony at 20:00.

Day Three - Today is battlefield swap over day! On route to the Somme we will be visiting the stunning Vimy ridge, memorial, tunnels and visitors centre. We will also be venturing around the grounds of Vimy to keep the walking theme going! We then travel down to the Somme where a afternoon walk will be put on (the route is not yet set) and as with all days, the non walkers will visit the same sites but via mini coach.
Once everyone has reconvened we will head off to our hotel in Arras for the night and some well earned rest and free time.

Day four - Walking Day! The walks for day 4 as with day 2 are also not yet set in stone but will again be different to any we have previously walked. There will be two walks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon averaging between 5 and 8 miles per walk. You can choose to walk either or both as we will have a mini coach for those family members or walkers who wish to sit either or both walks out, but those who don't walk will still get to visit the sites the walkers do as in previous days, plus a few more. Return time to the hotel will be around 18:30.

Day Five - After a big walking day yesterday, today will be a little lighter on the legs before we set off home, but still as fascinating and memorable. A morning walk (again, route is not yet set as yet) will be put on before time is had to have a good lunch and prepare for our journey home!

Please note all walks will be different from previous tours and will be added to should personal visits be required, this will be like no other previous walking tour!

Ferry crossing will be around 17:00 and our final drop in Bromsgrove will be around 22:00.

A non refundable deposit of £120 will secure your seat on this truly different battlefield tour. Full and final payment is due on or before May 31st 2025. Instalments are accepted as long as final total is paid on time.
